چکیده

For the development of management strategies in sustainable agriculture it is necessary to describe and predict the role of soil microbes in different management systems. The classical approach uses the microbial biomass as the key parameter for the entire system. but for ecological purposes Ihe variability of biotic parameters in time and space has to be better described. Momvcr. the biomass active in the total soil profile or its most active zones should be used as a basis for the assessment of soil activity. The sum of adenylntes wns found to be more closely reluted to the microbiul biomuss thm was ATP, which however a p p r c d to be a better indicator for the niicrobial uctivity. Fany acids from phospholipids were highly comlntcd with the soil microbial biomass. The pattern of fatty acids from soils under diffcrcnt long-term management indicated a high potential to typify the microbial community in soils and special organism populations. To overcome llic problem, that only a small portion of Ihe soil inhabiting microbcs cm be cultivated, first steps to use scrolopical and genetical methods to directly identify or localize specific populations in the rhizosphere rire shown.

Correction: Changes in Soil Microbial Community Structure Influenced by Agricultural Management Practices in a Mediterranean Agro-Ecosystem

Agricultural practices have proven to be unsuitable in many cases, causing considerable reductions in soil quality. Land management practices can provide solutions to this problem and contribute to get a sustainable agriculture model. The main objective of this work was to assess the effect of different agricultural management practices on soil microbial community structure (evaluated as abunda...

Microbial Community Structure of Paddy Soil Under Long-term Fertilizer Treatment Using Phospholipid Fatty Acid (PLFA) Analysis

Understanding the microbial community structure of agricultural soils is important for better soil management in order to improve soil quality. Phospholipid fatty acid analysis has been popularly used in determining the microbial community structure in different ecosystems. The microbial community structure of paddy soil under long-term fertilizer treatments was investigated after 45 years usin...

Changes in soil microbial community structure following the abandonment of agricultural terraces in mountainous areas of Eastern Spain.

In Eastern Spain, almond trees have been cultivated in terraced orchards for centuries, forming an integral part of the Mediterranean forest scene. In the last decades, orchards have been abandoned due to changes in society. This study investigates effects of changes in land use from forest to agricultural land and the posterior land abandonment on soil microbial community, and the influence of...

Non-target impact of fungicide tetraconazole on microbial communities in soils with different agricultural management

Effect of the fungicide tetraconazole on microbial community in silt loam soils from orchard with long history of triazole application and from grassland with no known history of fungicide usage was investigated. Triazole tetraconazole that had never been used on these soils before was applied at the field rate and at tenfold the FR. Response of microbial communities to tetraconazole was invest...

Relative impacts of land-use, management intensity and fertilization upon soil microbial community structure in agricultural systems

Soil microbial communities under three agricultural management systems (conventionally tilled cropland, hayed pasture, and grazed pasture) and two fertilizer systems (inorganic fertilizer and poultry litter) were compared to that of a w150-y-old forest near Watkinsville, Georgia. Both 16S rRNA gene clone libraries and phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA) analyses indicated that the structure and comp...
